Default Nikkor 18-200VR off to Melville

Just packed up my 2 month old 18-200 on it's way to Melville. My 55-200VR was always sharper than this copy. Maybe there was something wrong with the VR or the lens itself. Lets see what they say.

I like our copy of the 18-200 VR. Give DxO Optics a try with your pictures from it. It does an amazing job with the distortion and other flaws in the lens. The 55-200 VR may just be easier for Nikon to engineer than an 18-200 VR so it might be worth checking places like www.slrgear.com for their tests of the two lenses to see the differences.

As it turns out there is something wrond with this lens. Nikon tells me that they have ordered some parts but won't tell me which ones. This lens was purchased in November, should I request a replacement lens or is Nikons policy to repair?
