Default Photo ops in Marco Island??

    Hi Everyone,
I'm planning to come to Florida in February and am wondering whether Marco Island is worth a visit? If so, where is the best place there to photograph birds?
    Best to all,
    Nicki
    BTW, where is Tigertail Beach??

    Hi Nicki

Tigertail Beach can be found right on the map in Marco. It's the largest public beach park there. I've included a google map link below:

While your there, you can look around the island for burrowing owls...just drive around the neighborhood and look for wooden posts and yellow tape....they're all over especially on empty lots and by the library area too.

Outside Marco is the Everglades. You can take kayaking trips in the 10K Island area which should be happening at that time; and you can go into Big Cypress just outside Marco esp. Fakahatchee Strand which at that time should have hawks and eagles and woodpeckers about; .... you can drive a few miles north to Naples and go to the Corkscrew Audubon Sanctuary; and even further north to Fort Myers and Sanibel. Dunno if that's on your schedule; but let me know...depends on the days that you're there.

    Hello Nicki,
Burrowing Owls can be found along Lamplighter Drive and the side roads off it. There is a good one at the end of Coronado Court which is the first road on the right in Lamplighter Drive.
    Good luck,
    Dave.

    Hi Michael and Dave,
Thanks so much for the info - I do appreciate it!
I'm starting my trip in SE Florida - am going to be involved in an exhibition in FT Lauderdale in February - more details to follow!! After this I will be heading for the west coast and was plannng to spend one night in Naples then head up to the Sanibel/Fort Myers area. I thought that Marco Island might be worth checking out as I have never been there.
I shall have to give my schedule some thought as it sounds as if there is loads to see in the area.
Hope to meet as many of you as possible in February!
    Best regards,
    Nicki

Fabs, I think that there will be a party at the gallery in Ft Lauderdale on Feb 6th. I am taking part in a joint exhibition. I'll post more details when I have them but would really love as many of my BPN friends as possible to come along for a glass of wine!!
    Best,
    Nicki
