My maple tree is starting to drop the gorgeous red and yellow leaves throughout my front yard. Here's one I placed on a wooden step for a rustic BG.
Canon 40D, EF 70-200mm f/4L
f/7.1 @ 1/200th, ISO 400
Manual mode, pattern metering, custom WB
Handheld, fill flash, overcast skies
Processed in ACR & CS4; increased exposure (to bring out the high tones in the step), sharpness, clarity, contrast. Very small crop.
Hi Jules. The overcast lighting really brings out the bright colors in this leaf. I like the diagonal comp and your choice of background - it contrasts well with the leaf and could pass for a dead log lying on the forest floor.
A really nice photo Julie. It really caught my eye. Love the colours and the contrast with the step, which I at first thought was a forest log. I am glad to see you used the 70/200 f/4, which I also have. I had thought it was not sharp at close in, perhaps that is only at 200 and f/4. I also like the diagonal and feel a centred crop might work well. Definitely a fall shot. Dave
