These rare and adorable creatures were extraordinarily difficult to photograph. Having just completed their traditional mating ritual, the male was making best efforts to lead the female to their nesting area… presumably to consummate their nuptials. However, acting on a hunch (not found in Artie’s Bosque Guide I might add), I set up my blind near the bar, cleverly camouflaged with flutes and brut bottles… and patiently waited. My efforts were soon rewarded as the mated pair… led by the female… briefly diverted to stop and smell the roses… one last time. Alas, I was not quick enough, and just as my finger was depressing the shutter release, the pair flew back… just out of the plane of focus.
Oh my.....tooooooo funny. The real kicker is that I was there.....guess that makes me a "lurker"!!! It had to be the best Thanksgiving that I've ever had. Congrats guys!!!!
