going through some old files and trying to find some keepers. this one is from last year on Tampa Bay.

D300, Bigma at 500mm, f/6.3, 1/800s, 0EV, ISO 400......had i known better at the time, i would have bumped the ISO to at least 640 to give me 1/1250s.

thanks for looking. comments and critiques appreciated.

I like the crop and the pose . . . would like to see a bit richer contrast in the feathers.

Like it a lot MR H - like the banking turn - good HA and eye contact and nice details.
Like the strip of water at the bottom!!
    Good show :)

Hi Harold, I like the HA, banking turn, composition, water and trees, and sharpness. I think this is definitely a keeper.
I wonder, what would you have hoped to gain in this image by using a higher shutter speed? Or are you speaking generally of making it a habit not to shoot BIF at that low a shutter speed?

Hi Harold, Seems like 1/800 did the trick. Good details, placement and nice wing position.

more detail. i really had to work hard on this one to get more detail in the eye. it is basically a total rebuild. i liked the pose a lot and the detail in the feathers seemed good. so i thought it was worth it. i know i would have gotten better results from a higher shutter speed.

thanks for all the replys!! really appreciated.

Good one Harold My just increase mid tone contrast a bit?

Shutter speed wise I'm more comfortable with speeds of 1/1600 and over Ideally 1/2500 if possible I think they make the sharpest images !!
