This is one of my favorite images from the Venice Rookery. I love the heart shape formed by the heron's necks. I photographed this in the afternoon with the sunshine behind the herons. I've used D-lighting to bring more detail to the front of the birds. I've considered lightening the herons only, to retain color in the shrubs and sky. Suggestions welcome!

Hi Gayle Lovely afternoon image from the Rookery Don't shoot there often !!!! D-lighting setting did make a difference Not sure if you can lighten the beak and intensify (right bird) Feather reproduction looks good and both Also nearly got perfect head angle for the pair !!! Might desturate the greens just a tad They look electric Congrats I like your image !!!
Al, thanks, I was so concerned about the shadows on the birds I didn't notice what the lightening did to the shrubs. I'll fix that.
Rod, not quite what I had in mind ;-) LOL
