“The Blue House”
The blue house is called “La Casa de los Navarro de Arzuriaga”. It’s the only house in Albarracin that really has a different style. It was built in the 17th century and was transformed by the Navarro family, that were the richest family of that area. As you can see, the house is completely different than the rest of the houses, with a look more similar to the houses in the southern part of Spain.
History has it that a member of the Navarro family fell in love with a lady that came from the southern part of Spain. The lady did not want to live in Albarracin, because she was home sick, missing her native land. In wanting to make his bride happy, Mr. Navarro transformed and decorated the house, making it similar to the houses that she liked in the south part of Spain. After the house was completed, the lady was so surprised and happy, that she decided to stay in Albarracin. This was a labor of love…:cool:
