Feeling under the weather. Rainy day. What to do?

After dinner, the rain stopped long enough for me to venture out the front door and set up to shoot some images of our Dogwood in bloom. Made just a few images before the rains started up again.

Canon 30D; Sigma 150mm Macro lens; Canon 430 EX Flash w/ LumiQuest Softbox on Flexible bracket; Manfrotto tripod and head with Novoflex Focusing Rail.

    Ed:

I like the composition and the black background.

The green leaves seems to balance the green bud(s).

Nice texture to the DW leaves.

Really nice, Ed. Love the deep greens against the cool whites. And look! No cloning needed!!! :D

Lovely dogwood detail, great color combo, and I really like the use of flash that gave you a dark BG. Sweet!

Beautiful! You got the whites just right. I like the few green leaves, and the black BG. Good composition.

    Hey Ed,
This one just pops off the screen. Nice use of the dark/black BG here. It's not distracting as the curve of the leaves and seperation is very nice as is the blooms placement in the frame. I find the darker area at the top of the petal a bit distracting and cropping it off doesn't affect the comp at all. This is very minor though and doesn't detract from the overall beauty. Very nicely done!

Thanks, folks. Glad you liked this image. I liked the white, green and black color combination as well.

I have another with a very different background that I am curious as to your thoughts. I will post it a bit later.
