The Giant Otters in Brazil and particularly the ones we saw in the Pantanal are huge. We took a trip down the Rio Negro River and encountered a group of four early in the morning. Tough subjects to photograph as they are constantly in and out of the water and this image was created from a boat.. They move very quickly and before we knew it they were gone but i did get three images before they diappeared.

    Nikon D200, Nikon 600mm F4. ISO 320, 1/400, F7.1

    Hi, Judy.

I love this shot. The white marks on the otter look like lightning bolts. And the bg makes the expression and the pose even better.

Great angle, pose and BG. I find the white reflection in the water a bit distracting.

Really like the light and the low angle. I also really like the eye contact.

Nice that you were able to nail those three images! A nice photograph of a very ilusive animal. Good job on sharpness, DOF and shooting angle. The highlights in the water look a bit distracting though, but that's a minor thing.

Very nice capture! I especially like the "stare down" attitude. The blue sky reflected in the ripples gives a nice counterpoint to the warm tones in the rest of the image. I would like to see some curve in the body so it wouldn't be so straight up and down but this is a minor nit. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely image Judy. I too enjoy the look this otter is giving you. I reacll a documentary made about these animals and how elusive (rare?) they were. You wer fortunate to see, and to get a great photograph of, one.
