    Default Black-Cheeked Woodpecker

My return trip to Costa Rica is only a couple of weeks away and I'm starting to get pretty excited. Here's a woodpecker profile from my trip last year.

    Canon 30D, 500mm f/4 + 1.4x, f/5.6, 1/400, ISO 800, flash, tripod

A beautiful woodpecker.... Great detail and a super BG I might have prefered a bit more room on the top and less on the right. Good luck on your return trip.

Beautiful bird and great details. I would add a bit more room at the top and crop a bit off the left.

I didn't even think about the crop earlier. This crop was done for one of my business cards, where the images are square. I'm going to change the original image to reflect the version I intended to post in the first place.

Beautiful captured bird Doug. If you get one better than this, this year, I need to see it. :)

    Hi Doug,
beautyful bird and shar details. I am not sure about the crop. I think it's difficult to find the perfect balance for the picture. Is the picture, you show above a repost?

Yes it's a repost. The original post was a square crop that I use on business cards. The first couple of comments were based on the original photo. When I noticed the error, I edited my original post to use the correct photo. The thumbnail picture you see on the main forum is the original crop. Sorry for the confusion.

I like the repost better but would put the bird a little bit further to the left in the frame.
