The Bearded Vultures at the Giant's Castle vulture restaurant in KwaZulu-Natal are extremely inquisitive and sometimes glide within metres of the hide, eyeing the photographers inside. I sometimes get the idea that they enjoy the experience as much as the photographers:) Thanks for looking.

    Hi Chris,

Good thinking here lvoe the intimate close up, the exposure looks good as does the composition at least to my eyes. The shot seems to suffer from Jpeg artifacts though, was this a heavy crop? If you could get rid of that this would be an awesome shot....

Hi Krijn, thanks for the comments:). I did forget to mention that it is quite a large crop, about 60%. I do not seem to have the same artifacts problem on my screen though, could you be more specific? Which area is most affected?

The BG it looks pixelated.... In my experience this has to do with Jpeg compression or a large crop and not with a certain monitor (although I'm not 100% sure about this). Hope this helps

Great opportunity and well executed. I like the composition and complementing BG. I agree with Krijn regarding the pixelation but I'm sure it's just because of the reduction of the file size.

A very powerful image the way you presented this Chris. Just a pity it is such a heavy crop. Personally I never crop to such an extend. IMO the pixelation is not too bad however.

Sweet. I really like the colors overall and the pattern on the back of the bird is really interesting.

I don't see a problem in the BG, but it's early and my eyes aren't awake yet ;)

Great image, with great sharpness. I very much like the cropping. Only element that is a tad distracting is the white (of the rump?) above-behind the shoulder. But this is a very dramatic shot. Cudos.
