    I took this right after getting the new Canon 40D last year in September. Here are the settings -

    Canon 40D + Sigma 50-500 F4-6.5 APO DG HSM
    ISO 400, 1/250 sec, 500mm at f8

    I cropped the original and also blurred the background a bit. Your comments and feedback would be appreciated.

    Beautiful posture and composition! I would have preferred a bit of fill flash to enhance the back light further and the image could perhaps be a bit sharper.

    I like the pose and setting. I would give it a bit more room and it would have been great if the sun would have been behind you. In lieu of that, fill flash might have helped. Keep them coming.

    I'm going against the flow here, but I think that the backlighting really works better for this image than if the sun had been behind you. My reasoning is that the BG would have been far too bright with the sun on it from your direction.

    A little fill flash might have helped the bird stand out a bit, but I think you would have ended up with a whole different mood.
