On my way to southwest Florida, I stopped by Gatorland last week to check it out. The stopover was well worth it, in fact I was impressed enough to buy the season photography pass. Mike Goodwin opens the gate at 7:30am (if you haven't been there before the photographers early entrance is all the way to the south end of the facility). There was plenty of photography opportunities available. There are Great Egrets, Wood Storks, Cormorants, and Anhinga there right now. A few Spoonbills did show up in the evenings. The Great Egrets are really in super breeding plumage (see attached photo) and doing their mating display
One additional note, Mike even stayed with me for an additional 30 to 40 minutes after the other photographers had left that evening in order to give me an opportunity to photograph some Barred Ows. Thanks Mike!!!
