    Default MacGillivray's Warbler

    This warbler is a periodic visitor to the higher elevations in the Sandia Mountains. It's always a treat to get to see them, particularly when they bask in the sunshine like this one did for me.



    Canon 30D, 500mm f/4 + 1.4x, f/5.6, 1/2000, ISO 400, no flash, tripod + Wimberley

    A nice image indeed. It looks pretty dark to me though. Im not too crazy about the perch either ;)

    It does look dark; it didn't look quite like that in PS. Here's a repost. A better perch would have been nice, but it wasn't in the cards; I'm cropping a little bit of log off of the bottom of the repost. Thanks for the input Glenn.

    The repost looks much better on my monitor although I would like to have a bit more space at the bottom despite the not so great perch. I'd love to see this species sometime.

    Nice Image, and the previous posts pretty much covered it. please send the warbler north (in the summer!)

    doug -
    lovely bird and agree with the above comments
    a further comment/suggestion - - with the 500mm F4 on a tripod , you might have gotten more DOF for the tail if you'd decrease the shutter speed and gone to f8 or f11
    still a very nice effort

    Very pretty bird, nits covered above. Was this taken near a water drip set up?

    Not a drip setup, but at a source of water up in the mountains.
