    Default MINWR Sunrise No. 1

From MINWR a few weeks back.

    Canon 1D Mark III
    100-400mm @ 170mm
    1/1250 sec, f/11
    Mode: Av
    Metering: Evaluative
    Exp comp: +1
    AEB comp: -1
    Total Exp comp: 0
    ISO: 400

7-Image HDR. The artifacting of the sun made the HDR Tone Mapping look horrible. I used Photomatix Pro's Blended exposure option to combine seven images.

Anyway, it this good, bad or so-so. Thanks for the comments.

    Robert,

I'd like to see a version with the exposure cut back 1/3 or 2/3 to see if would add some dimension, but that may darken the foreground too much. A very tough scene indeed.

I will be heading out there in about a week and a half.... is the BPWD? If so, around which stop will I get a nice sunrise? I would like to try out my Sony's DRO function on a scene just like this.

Robert, I like the overall mood a lot. It does look a bit bright to me. I think AJ is on to something in his post above.

First off, I have made an error, above is a blended 7 shot image. Changed above to state "7-Image HDR. The artifacting of the sun made the HDR Tone Mapping look horrible. I used Photomatix Pro's Blended exposure option to combine seven images."

Here I posted one of the 7 images, first in series for a true silhouette look. I will post something in between next. Getting late and I need to hit the hay.

love the repost! i think you could crop a little off the bottom to about between you name and website. as far as the HDR goes, i dont think you need it here, because i wouldnt ask for anything more than what's in the second version.

    Hey Robert,
I think the 2nd one is better too! Decided to play a little with it......to show others some possibilities. Basically......just brightened the right side.......which probably lost a bit in the jpeg compression. I actually like the sun rainbow....hope I didn't remove too much of it!

Thanks Roman. After I posted it I realized I needed to even out the right side.
