Eliminating Duplicate images?

A bit of bad housekeeping and a series of computer crashes before I switched to MAC as left me with a few dupes. Too many to manually delete without spending weeks on the task.

Anyone know of a software solution to search, ID, and delete dupes?

So far, the best option I've found for MAC relies on the images being in the iPhoto DB, and I took iPhoto off my system. In a pinch, I could reinstall iphoto, but I'd rather not.

I don't know if it works on a Mac, but I use Microsoft's free Sync Toy.
