The winds on top of Sandia peak were very high today so it was tough to get a good shot of these beautiful birds.

I'd love to see this species sometime, they really are beautiful. The bird looks a bit soft on my monitor, is it a heavy crop? I wish for a bit more eye contact and a catchlight.

Axel, the winds were high so you couldn't get on to the balcony (I should really say we weren't allowed out, too much flying ice and snow they said). I had to shoot through the window of the hut.

    Hey Gary,
AAah...through the window.........the perch with the snow dangling is super. I am not a card carrying member of HAP.....but as always......these recommendations would only further strengthen the image. Hope you get more opportunities......because you were real close on this one!

While the head angle could have been better, the colors and perch are great!.. Brrr, It was almost 80 degrees here, today.
