    Default Venice Rookery Update

Is everyone at Bosque ?? :) :) I went to the Venice Rookery this morning, to my surprise i had the place all to myself until 8:30 am when another photographer came in. There was not much going on with the birds either, all the Great Egret, Catle Egret and Ibis took off just before sun rise. I saw a few Great Blue Heron's nest with chicks and one Anhinga nest. The best part of the morning was when a pair of Sandhill Crane landed by the parking lot, I got my tripod and moved across the street, i was amazed by how tame they were, they came so close to me that my camera would not focus any more. I will try to go back in a few weeks, hopefully things will pick up.

Those were my favorites They normally nest at the edge of the rookery and love catching them bringing branches !!!
