This is the first time I have seen an Osprey go down and bring something like this up ?? I have seen dead fish floating and they do not take them . I know that the will eat small prey and birds if they are really hungry but this ??
would really like to know if anyone has seen or heard of an osprey picking up dead or decaying fish like this . I have seen them bypass dead fish floating in the water so this was a suprise to me anyway.
I saw one chewing on the last of a big carp...it was so big I don't think he could have carried it that well.. Often they like to display their prize so it is not just back to the nest with food...they have a good tight grip on it and fly around with it for a few hours.
