how does one create a direct link/ reference to another BPN post in a reply being submitted?

You could copy and paste the URL of the post to be linked.
I will see if we have an easier way.
Chris may know off of the top of his head.
James
Do you mean like this:
http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...95&postcount=7
That should be a reply by James to a pic Al took of Capt Darth in his boat. :p
When looking at the thread, if you look at the top of each post, you should see a post count/number (to the right of the date and time). Right click it (that is for Windows - I do not know if it works the same on Mac), and then click Copy Link Location. Then just place the link where you want and it will take you to View Single Post, but you can always go up to top right of single post and click on link for entire thread, if you want.
If you are meaning how to quote someone, then just go to the individual post you want to quote, and click either of the 2 quote links.
Hope that helps! :)
;) Actually that isn't even vB code. That is just a link to individual posts, just tells where to find link for post.
For vB code, each post would need its own identifying number (not sure why they don't have them here). Here, we have different threads but with each post starting back at 1.
Here are examples of vB code, straight from the code list:
<[>post<]>269302<[>/post<]>
<[>post=269302<]>Click Me!<[>/post<]>
It would make it a lot easier to just use vB code with actual post number, not thread number and post count.
** Examples above, would be without the angled brackets. This thread doesn't allow html code, so I had to add characters to represent the brackets. **
Just my thoughts... :)
Do you mean this:
http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...95&postcount=7
to...
this?

Paul,
"this link?" does not work on my computer? Get the dreaded "Page cannot be found" message.
