This was taken at the Rookery in Venice, FL this morning about 0830. I used a Canon Rebel XT at iso 100, 1/500sec, f/8. My lens is a Canon 400L 5.6 prime.
A nice first post, love the action you have captured here. Beautiful birds as well and the Venice Rookery is a legendary place to make great images!
Couple things, looks like you might need a touch of unsharp mask and maybe some more contrast in your image. You can try both in Photoshop and see if that helps a little. The one negative here is the bird has it's beak hidden by the wing of the other bird. You were right on target here though!
That is some great action, Nancy! Welcome and I'm glad that you have such a fine photography spot nearby. It would be great if the bill of the right-most bird wasn't hidden behind the wing, but just capturing some of the action is a fine start. I agree with George's reprocessing tips to bring the best out of this photograph.
