I particularly liked the way this Hawkweed was soaking up the morning sun which was coming in from the left rear. The petals look radiant to me in the sunlight supplemented by a little fill flash. I also like the way the background runs LL to UR while the flower runs LR to UL. Add some water droplets from the overnight rain and I couldn't pass it up.

Image made using a Canon Rebel XT; Sigma 150mm Macro lens, Canon 430 EX Flash with LumiQuest Softbox mounted on a flexible flash bracket and all tripod-mounted with a Novoflex focusing rail.

    Hey Ed,
Nice and simple. does have a lovely glow to it. The 1 bent petal even lets me get a peek in!

Good comp, great focus on the stem, and not overly saturated on the yellows. I like the play of yellow against green in this one, and at least for now, I'm more fascinated with the textures in stem than the colors and softness of the petals, but you need both of them to make this image work. Nice job!

    Hi Ed,

Very nice, I like the contrast against the background, the clean composition and the sharpness.
