Oh very cool posing and calling for you !!! ... these are very nice subjects to photograph if they are approachable !!! Any options for you to shoot at a Lek ???

Nice clear view to the Grouse in a very pleasing setting . Well rendered colors and tones overall Jon .... just the blue /cyan in the white tail feathers aren't ideal , as I would personally remove them . This might be just me . Well balanced comp

    Nice one Jon

Would love to see them one day .

Thanks Andreas, this was at a lek, they are just getting fired up . The image was taken from the car and the birds can be 20-120m or more distant, constantly changing light. I did wonder about the blues in the black feathers but the blue appearance is there in real life. Putting a hide up would not be appreciated so it is a matter of who gets there first gets the best parking place, gets the best images. I will probably return but I am waiting for a decent weather forecast and good light, then its a 4am rise to ensure getting there first!

Jon i was talking about the blue in the white feathers .... not in the dark feathers . Do not think they are blueish , but I might be well wrong

I love the calling pose and the habitat. Look at that thick neck! That one grass blade poking up from the top of the head grabs my eye - easy to remove.

Thanks Andreas & Dan glad you liked it. The blue in the whites - maybe a slight hint in the tail......
