Beautiful feather detail, love the eyes and angle.

Hi Colin ... a very nice capture in a clean setting . Lovely bird and I do love the eye as well .
For me personally , sorry ro say , has a plastic look in the low frequencies and the overall contrast in the bird is a bit strong . Not knowing the bird myself , I would ask are the overall colors " correct " ... the grey and yellow parts are very cold ( blue ) . But hey you were there .
A nice shot I would give a more gently hand and a different go on the color front .

I feel something slightly amiss also, the bill for example is very smooth indeed, the plumage and the twig appear to be made of plastic. I suspect too much use of the Effects sliders ?? I think this would be an easy fix, there is a finely detailed image there.

Thanks, I had another go but couldn't make much of a difference. The raw was slightly underexposed and very noisy, my bad!
Still, it is a good representation of a bird that I know well.

Got to agree Colin, especially the plastic look on the bill and legs/feet. The feather detail aint too bad, a wee bit less sharpening and less contrast would help IMO. I would also leave more space around the bird as this would help the IQ and show more of the lovely BG.
