I appreciate the high contrast image, the plumage I think could show better detail given the high shutter speed, a few tweaks on the initial contrast and highlights with careful use of Texture would I think reveal more, I think it is worth having another look see. I like the elegant pose and the natural background.
Hi Colin ... a very cool capture of a species I do not know .
You did quite well with the somewhat difficult subject and dark BG .
Bird does look very attractive specially with the red feathers ... jumping off the dark BG
Wish you had treated the subjects darks and lights with a bit more gentle approach , both ends have lost some visible details .
