    Default European Kingfisher III

Hi folks ... back to the KF images of mine .
Completely different attitude of mine to get the shots ... less planned .. just taking what the KF offer me .
Wether it is with or without fish , sitting nice and open ... or even partially hidden or in a very busy environment . Was different and great fun to shoot there .

So this KF was resting in a large tree , which is staying right on the edge of artificial pond of the warm river I talked about in the last Dipper posting .... the tree is one of his preferred roosting places . Many times high up in the tree ... this time I got lucky and got him on eye level , the disadvantage is that he was sitting behind and in front of this hanging branches of this special tree .... it was like shooting through curtains of twigs . Not easy to find a gap to shoot through .
But I managed some images ... some of you might not like the busy BG , the fuzzy FG on LHS and even more the two twigs that are present on the LHS , would agree with you that they are kind of distracting . But I left them in as part of the story ... for me personally !!! Bright BG is snow covered park area . Ah yes , I would have wished for a better HA ....

Another super shot, the background is fine as far as I am concerned, it does not detract from the portrait of the Kingfisher. I would much rather see an image like this compared to one almost glued to a mossy perch.
Head angle also fine, this tells me it is a shot taken out in the wild without interference or prompting, it's Nature Photography and that's exactly what I like.

As you know I'm all in for bird in habitat shots.
Bird looks well processed as usual.
The eye bothers me, too much reflection making it look dull.
Framing, perhaps the bird could be a little lower in the frame?

    Hi Andreas,

You seem to be having too much fun!

What strikes me is the colour contrast. The colours of the Kingfisher look really stunning and really have the bird stand out against the background.

And because the background and tree colours are quite muted they don't intrude.

I also don't have any problem with the head angle - sharp all the way to the tip of the bill.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Gerald
