Nice shot, i would suggest lower blues in the subject and cjeck the Black and White points to give a little more "oomph".

    Very cool capture, Ian.

For me, the band of blue sea and/or sky doesn't help the composition; so you might like to remove or replace it.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Gerald

Hi Ian ... a super cool incoming shot , I am impressed by the ability of yours just to get an image like this !!!
Top notch pose and the direct eye contact is killer , I suppose that is a large crop ???!!! If so I would loosen the crop .
The subject does look lifted and kind of HDRIsh , would keep the natural shadow fall .... the shadows do look quite grainy .

Very nice work and TFS Andreas

    Thanks for your suggestions.
My image was sent somehow before I was ready and it is actually an Australian Peregrine, 3 weeks fledged.

This bird was about to put wheels down at around 20' from me at 200m focal length. My disguise was clearly inadequate as the next frame at 30fps contained only the head and half the wing as he aborted his landing and went straight over my head.

With little below to reflect light, the underside was several stops less well exposed.

The background is gumtrees on the other side of Australia's longest river, The Murray' hundreds of yards away

Here is another go taking note of your suggestions - many thanks again.
