Well...I suppose images like these are a dime a dozen in Florida. One or two this species just started to show up in mid-Missouri a year ago. I was set up to image
migratory shore birds when individual strolled out of the weeds and started foraging for clams. I almost peed in my pants. Taken late last July.
Typical Missouri mud flat. DxO and cropped.

Good clean shot of the bird, I like the surroundings, I might have been tempted to reduce the contrast in the greens. The eye is super sharp and demands attention.

This species feeds heavily on snails and is experiencing a range expansion as their prey moves north, out of the southeast and into the midwest. They've been seen as far north as Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The shot is very nice. The low angle is great and the action is stopped perfectly. Log running straight through the face/back isn't ideal, but I think it's far enough back that the shot still works. Exposure
on the bird looks spot on.

Very nice. I like the BG colours against the good detail on the bird. Sort of has a 3D look about it. Great pose and you captured the moment perfectly. Nice POV.

Very nice image, everything that is important is in the same focal plane. Well done.
