Another jumping Red Squirrel from the set up. Gimbal Head. ACR and PS. This is almost full frame. I wished I had kept my old 300mm f/2.8, it would be perfect for this type of photography. I have no room for manoeuvre, and struggling to get the squirrel in the frame, even with the bare lens. The speed of the squirrel doesn't help.

    It certainly was Will.

Nothing wrong with the techs and yes, they are fast, this is where the 'planning' side comes into play and you spend 98% of your time gearing up for the shot and 2% is the click of the shutter.

The BKG is great, obviously planned with no distracting elements and a pleasing contrast to the subject. Personally I feel the subject is a bit flat both tonally and in colour, however you were there, not me. I'm sure you have explored the new masking Will, therefore select the subject and look at applying a little bit of clarity and dehire, but more importantly the Point colour, it is just awesome and just expands your control and deliverance. Get more oomph in that 'red' and you will have nailed it!

    Dear Will,

I too think you captured this beautifully and the framing is perfect, nice clean BG, subject sharp with some nice detail.

Like Steve said it just needs a tad of oomph, body looks a tad flat and lacking 'form' so to speak, needs to stand out more. Love the little paws with tiny nails
Great work in the field and super techs, my friend - I am loving this, such a pleasure to view, thank you for sharing

    Kind regards,

    Hi Will,

Yes, a very cool image - lots of fun to capture this!

The fine detail of the fur is amazing! A little more oomph with the colour would add to an already super image.

    Thanks for sharing

Hi Will .. all of your jumping Red Squirrel shots are very cool ...
Al does look very good to me , albeit I might have pushed tone and colors a bit more ... personal taste .

Well caught, I agree I would try to develop some tones in the squirrel. the image is good and sharp but I feel the angle is too perpendicular, if at all possible I would try to get a slight angle coming towards the camera.
