This was taken just before a bit of a tussle with another stag, he's pretty pumped up! I was pleased to get a few images with water vapour coming from his nose.

Beautiful deer with some 'attitude'... lovely frame! Pose with the vapour is awesome and I also like the distended nostrils... well captured Jon, great timing! Did you manage any shots during the tussle with the other chap?

Well composed and you extracted some nice detail in the subject's coat and face, looks sharp and stands out nicely against the background.

There's a slight green tinge to the coat in places, I suppose a reflection from the green surroundings? Shooting in a green environment can be a pain sometimes for me, since I care about WB.

Love the behavioural aspect here, makes the image for me. Would love to see some interaction if you have

Hope you have a great week-end and some more photographic opportunities,

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Jon, this capture is worthy of a Paul Hollywood handshake, if you watch Bake off?

I love the framing, capture and light, sadly what I don't like is the colour rendering, its too blue/cold. Now this might be very faithful and correct, but I feel there is an alternative too that might be worth exploring????

Thanks Steve, I can't tell you how many different versions I have made trying to get the colours as I wish! The next post will be the same. Thanks for having a look, your version looks good, I will try to make my next post a little more in that direction of colours/tones.

    Looking forward to it Jon.

It might help if you break the image down into zones/sections when working on the file.
