This image was also created on 20 February 2023 on an Instructional Photo-Tour at Kachemak Bay, Homer, AK. I used the hand held Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II lens with the Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter(at 197mm) and The One, the Sony Alpha 1 Mirrorless Digital Camera.. The exposure was determined via Zebras. ISO 1000: 1/3200 sec. at f/4 (wide open) in Manual mode. AWB at 27:47:05am on a sunny morning.

Tracking: Zone AF/C with Bird-Eye/Face Detection performed perfectly. Click on the image to enjoy a high-res version. Cropped from a horizontal image.

BPN's Kevin Hice joined me in Homer in 2022. On our best morning, he created more than 25,000 R5 images in a single morning. Consider joining me in Homer in 2024. Click here for details including BPN discount information.

As for the image, don't be shy. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

This is fantastic. The pose and details are excellent, but I think the lighting and softly graded BG steal the show. The splayed primaries are too cool, and there's just enough separation between the beak and the lower wing. Intense glare puts this over the top.

Hey Artie where have you been, I wondered if you had lost your camera
Super pose and exposure. Sharp wing tip to wing tip, sharp eye and an interesting sky, I like it.

Just beautiful Artie. Love the open primaries and sharp. Doesn't get any better with that intense stare and beautiful clouds for a background. TFS

Thanks, Jon. I have been very busy teaching and traveling. I've been back a few days and plan on catching up :)

Hi Artie...Glad you are back posting again.....and, what a great image to come back with....A great looking flight pose with super detail....The only thing I would change would be to reduce the highlights/slightly sharpen those beautiful talons...I think it would show more detail on them....The facial expression is fabulous....
