    Default Roseate Spoonbill

As this is a juvenile, its head hasn't gone bald yet. Nor has it developed the magenta patches which grace the shoulder and leading edge of the wing in the adult.

Bird was spotlit against shadows; it was easy to accentuate/exaggerate the contrast in post. My goal was mostly to highlight the namesake beak!

Possibly. I really struggled with the WB on this one. This (the repost) is where I originally had it but changed it this morning since it looked too cold when I looked at it before posting.
Maybe because I'd just been outside in bright sun. Who knows? Anyway, here's that cooler version before I changed it.

Beautiful image Dorian and you definitely got the beak right. Details on the upper beak are fantastic just the right amount of light. I always love a subject against a dark background makes them pop. TFS

Nice portrait. I'm a fan of blackdrops.

It does stand out nicely from the dark BG indeed. Perfect head tilt towards us. Good details and sharpness from head to bill tip. Yes, the repost does look cleaner and less "dirty yellowish" to me as well.
