Hi folks ... another image from my recent KF shooting .
Nothing fancy though , for me still special as it was the first time that I had the option to photograph this species .
Image taken from blind and the KF is baited .

    Canon EOS R3
    EF 200 - 400 IS L at 560 mm
    TRipod

    F 5,6 ; Iso 1000 ; 1/125 sec

Was shooting at various settings during that long day in the blind

Image processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2023 , slight crop

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous postings

    Cheers Andreas

What a beauty you have here Andreas. Colors look so good and the processing is tops. Love the feather detail especially on the head. Only negative I have is the stick. Just wish for a better perch. I have tried setups and it is very hard to get that realistic look. TFS

I think you have a stuffed bird nailed to this stick and just turn its head for different effects
Such smooth light and BG. Love the concentrated 'looking for dinner' pose.

Absolutely super Andreas..... for me the branch is just a tad too colourful.

Beautiful image of a beautiful bird. I agree that the perch is a little bit too colorful as it takes my eye away from the bird, but I like images that bring my attention strictly to the bird. In this one the HA, BG, great feather detail, colors do just that.

Looking good Andreas.....I like the pose, detail and HA....Colours look spot on...The BG colour is nice ...looks good against the bird...I don't mind the perch...

    Nice one

Lovely color and pose. Would be nice to have more of perch in focus, but that's relatively minor. When I first saw the image, I thought, "I wonder what ISO this was shot at? He looks to have done a nice job at recovering detail
from 6400 or 12,800 or whatever he's been pushing it to these days." So, I was rather shocked to see it was at ISO 1000. The detail is this image is good, but I'm used to you squeezing more from higher ISOs. So, I'm wondering
why the details here don't see as razor sharp and crisp as some of your other images. 1/125 is slow, but I don't think you introduced shake given your technique and (I suspect) a tripod.

Thanks folks for your comments , much appreciated .

@ Colin ... for sure is this a stuffed KF

@ Jon and James .... i am ok with the color of the stick . No extra color pushing or selective editing applied to it . The stick looked that way

@ Dorian .... can't follow your thoughts about sharpness and details . The only thing that bothers me about all images from that shoot is the DOF limitations , simply too shallow due to the poor light all day . If this would be closer to home I would try to go there again ... but it is 4 hour drive .

    Thanks and cheers Andreas

The depth of field seems like a reasonable explanation. The details across the bird are crisper in this shot, at ISO 4000, so you must have been much, much closer in the more recent instance.

Dorian .... same distance , just thrown in the internal 1,4 TC .
So the DOF is shallower plus the very slow SS , the bird might haven even moved slightly or I have might have used a different shaping in DPP .And not to forget this one is less contrasty .... overall .

But I think the output is still good , IMHO .

You might see it differently , no problem .

    Cheers Andreas

Maybe I reprocess it ... and see if I can do better , from scratch

Don't get me wrong; this is a wonderful result. I was just curious why your other shots appeared a tad sharper even though captured at higher ISOs. Your depth-of-field answer satisfied my curiosity perfectly, and the repost
    strengthens an already-strong image. Cheers!

Very nice image all around Andreas! I too wish the perch was completely in focus, but seems like you were limited on light. Nice work!

I'm OK with the perch, I do not think it is too colourful...but like Dorian I do wish it was more in focus. I do appreciate the info though and situation though, and accept it would have been difficult getting it within dof without raising the ISO a lot more. A wonderful image nonetheless, I love the fine feather detail - especially more on the repost.
