Shaking Osprey
This was captured after the Osprey left the water after an unsuccessful attempt to catch a fish (which it did later on). Yes, the BG is busy and some may not like the wing positions but I'm ok with both. Cheers.
D500/500PF, 1/3200th sec@f5.6, iso2500, manual mode, on a low light early morning. Processed in ACR, PS and Topaz. Nothing added or removed.
Bird looks good to me! Wing position is good and you've avoided shadows altogether. My only issue on the near primaries as they look smeary. Background is what it is, but the composition is very nice.
Exposure appears good Paul and I like the water droplets, however the masking is fairly sloppy around the bird, with big patches of areas that have no NR applied, ie water droplets falling from the belly to the tail feathers.

Steve: Yes, I see those areas, but they're in the raw file, and I did no masking. However, it's easy to fix those areas.
Good frame the whites are spot on to me.and the droplets tell the story.
If you used Topaz why didn't it fix the noise. I Must say I hadn't noticed it till Steve pointed it out
Hi Ian. Thanks for the feedback. Not sure why, but as i said to Steve, that "noisy bit" is in the raw file. Maybe it's part of the water spray...not sure.
Yep, bird looks great, but noise around the wing tips and below the talons and belly. As you say, easy fix, and well worth revisiting to do just so. I'm OK with the wing position here.

I took another look at this and did a re edit. Part of the issue may have been my cloning of some of the branches as well as Topaz. This time I did no cloning and aimed for a better outcome. Thoughts?

I think Paul if you had acknowledge the cloning work in the OP it would have helped.
Yes, better, but the near wing feathers still looks a bit odd in parts, perhaps down to being OOF, but did you lighten the frame too as it's also grainy in parts still?

HI Steve. Apologies for not mentioning the cloning. I didn't think it affected the photo in relation to the noise, but will definitely state any cloning in the future. I might have lightened it a little too. Cheers.

Tough call with a dark background, as you are not trying to blown the whites of the subject. If it’s just slightly clipped on the Histogram next time, but you get a better exposure, often the whites are easily retrieved in Post Production, good luck next time.
