Another one from the archives which I'm sure a few will remember... this guy was one of two brothers who had taken down a Buffalo the previous night.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed on the last posting.

Super detail in the lion, very nice indeed.
The hazy appearance at the base - is this OOF grasses or something you introduced? My slight reservation is the muscle tissue, it looks a little too vivid to me - especially if it was from a kill the previous night.

Hi Steve .... remember that you posted at least one image of that kill in the past .
Love the " gory" appearance , exactly my cuppa .
Does work well for the most part ... just the light OFF FG is not as great , IMHO . Personally i would have toned it down .
I do like the concentrated loook into the carcass .
Funny techs .. for todays thinking and softeware , when it comes to SS and noise . But the old lady performed well ... i do acually not see a difference in comparison to the latest cameras ( posted here ) .

Techs perfectly fine, why push it when you don't need too and HH is super stead, delivering a sharp raw. Regarding the 'Softeware' (must be C1 for big softies ), Lr & PS work perfectly and dovetail like a 'hand in glove', no need to change, there is no software currently that does everything perfectly, contrary to some folk. Been using Lr since 2006, PS since mid 90's, tried DPP too slow and clunky, especially with Cr3 files, never got on with C1 in 07', way too complicated, but not as complicated as others.

    Dear Steve,

I am one of those few who remember having seen some great images from this particular sighting

Composition is very appealing and I quite like the image design...finding myself drawn to the subject's eyes, which is - I suppose - what you planned to achieve.

Colours look very good, and despite the presence of the carcass I do not find the image to be gory. Maybe I am just used to such scenes?

Regarding Jon's comment on the flesh being too vivid, I am not so sure. Recently came upon three male lions on a kill made the previous day, a baby elephant - the flesh was bright red in places despite the rain that came down during the night and also the heat (35'C) that time of the day. Anyway, if you 'enhanced' it a bit to add more drama that's also ok with me.

On the topic of OOF grass... don't think darkening the FG would make a big difference. Knowing you, you probably tried during PP and weren't 't happy with the result.

I would be very pleased with this image if it were mine, nice POV and I love the concentration on the lion's face, the hunger. Subject sharp with nice detail, cannot ask for more

So I just want to thank you for sharing, Steve. You have consistently posted over the years great quality images, thoughtfully processed. Wish I could do the same.

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
