Will, that's quite the takeoff pose on a pretty quick subject I gather!
Nice colors and texture in the bkg. Do like the hole and little weed coming off the stump to add interest.
The slightly open wing position is fortuitous for sure as well as the open beak. Only other feedback is the head and back appear pretty grainy - not sure if a slight bit of selective noise reduction could improve those areas.
Thanks for sharing, always a pleasure to view your images!

William great setup love the post and great wing position that really grabs one initially. Only thing I wish for just a little more head turn open beak adds nicely. I could see this with the whole post with some background too the right. TFS

Good difficult shot. Love the BG. Fortunate that the tail just cleared the perch as the bird left.
Open beak is good as well as seeing the feet. Interesting that the far wing looks a little sharper than the near wing

Super shot Will, ideal colours and sharp, the pose is terrific. That'll do for me!
I don't know if you cut off half the stump or not, just wondering if the whole width of the stump would look better.. or not?

I always loved the blue feathers when viewing images of this species, and here we see them very well. Glad the feet cleared the wing. I like the faint hint of foliage in the BG. Fun image.

Thanks guys....The perch, I felt was too big.... compared to the bird, hence the crop....

Hey Will, I think that the crop is perfect. Love the wing position and that we can see the bird's feet. Bummer that the head is turned ever-so-slightly away.
with love, artie
