    Default Mandarine Duck (F)

    Hi all ... a " new " species with the " new " camera .
Spend some time at a different location to see these Mandarine ducks , lucky enough I found them roosting in a tree .... but only this female was photographable . All others were covered by distracting elements and / or backlit .
This female was sitting half way decent ... so I took some shots .

F 6,3 ; Iso 4000 ; 1/2500 sec , might have gotten away with slower SS to gain more DOF . But my position was not very stable ... so I opted to stay with the fast SS .

Agree with Jonathan here. If it were mine I'd be tempted to clone out the oof section which I do find a little distracting. Lovely image!

Nice open bill pose Andreas! I don't mind the OOF portions myself in this as I don't find them distracting. Nice sharpness my only little nit is I wish for a touch more room in front of the duck.

Nice and clean Andreas and we both never worry about highish ISO getting in the way, but perhaps ISO 6400 and F/8. Yes, a simple clean up would be better and it is certainly tight to the trim, but assume you had even more debris in the line of sight.

Open beak is a nice tough, but the lighting doesn't work for me. It's nice that the face is lit, but the rest of the bird is overpowered by the better-illuminated perch. The processing looks very good regardless. And yes, the duck is too tight and needs more room on the left.

Thanks folks for your comments , much appreciated .

For those of you , who wants to remove elements from this frame .... i can just say , i do not see the need to do so . For me the image is clean enough ... and it was the cleanest window to shoot through .

@ Dorian ... the lighting does work for me , but agree i could have added a bit of canvas for more room .

@ Steve ... yes F8 would not have hurt .

    Cheers Andreas
