John:
I like this one a lot.Good poses, fish, very interesting light.
I did try a version with just a bit more contrast on the birds only, which made them pop a bit more, but that is truly a personal/artistic choice.
Very nice.
Cheers
Randy

I like this one too, I think maybe a little Clarity brushed on the terns would just about do the trick.

I light the sparkles in the light and the fish is a big bonus. I agree with others about the contrast on the birds.

Agree with others regarding contrast/clarity, the spectral highlights in the background are a really nice touch. Nice work!

John very nice light. I have tried some backlit images and just haven't mastered one I like. Lots of interest here with the fish and calling mate. Just a very small nit might remove those few bright blown highlights especially the two in between the two birds down in the sand. TFS

I looked at this one for more than a few minutes. The fish is nice and so is the calling pose, and the color of the light is sweet. But it does not work for me. The head of the bird with the fish is angled away from us, the beach straw and other debris on the sand is distracting, and shadowed sides of the bird look to be without detail. These are very difficult to pull off successfully so good on you for trying.
I've been so long without a flash that I almost forget how effective then can be for this type of image ...

John, a thing of beauty from my seat.
Both subjects in the focal plane, the dinner in mouth and call by the other, the gorgeous specular highlights for added flair and the composition. All superb.
Good points on the contrast, not sure how that would play out but worth a shot. Might also burn a couple of the brightest specs.
Great job here!

Hi John .... nice subjects with a good behavior aspect captured , very well done .
Love the sweet light and the warmth .
Would not change a thing .... specially not bumping any more contrast , clarity or something similar .

Hi John, great low shooting angle, and love the light ( good theme choice ). I also like the contrasting poses from both Terns. One with a raised foot and open beak, and the other holding dinner.
