This image shows an American avocet transitioning between winter coat and breeding plumage. the pale neck starts to show orange tones and in about a month and half will become more dense and saturated. These are very common birds, especially the CA species can be found anywhere here but it was one of the first species I started to photograph and learn bird photography . I still like them/

Hope to get a couple when they are in full breeding plumage

Simply superb. Doesn't get any better than this. IQ and sharpness are excellent.
I have only ever seen avocets in breeding plumage once and didn't get any good shots. I am jealous that they are so common in your neck of the woods!

Gorgeous frame. Really like the gradient in the background.

Just beautiful. The background nicely compliments the bird.

Not much to add here. Perfect wings-fully-down pose, sharpness, BG. I've never even laid eyes on one of these, so I too am jealous.
