Trying to make the most of a dismal, grey day. Great for lack of shadows but totally flat light. This image of a Reddish Egret was captured along Blackpoint Wildlife Drive in Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Merritt Island, Florida. A prime lens cane be a blessing and a curse. In this instance the bird was running, I was running backwards, stopping to focus and capture images, then moving again to keep the bird in the frame and not clip the wings. I am sure pretty funny if someone was watching. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

You made the most of the situation. Love the 'gallop' with trail of bubbles, raised left foot, angle in frame and crop.
Nice job on bumping the contrast to cope with the flat light. Eye really pops.
The noise has been well handled. I generally don't like to push the D500 quite that high on the ISO scale, but works here.
Nice transillumination of the primaries.
In perfect world, left wing a bit straighter.
Prime vs. zoom. Well, I have both, and if I can physically move, I use the prime almost exclusively. Will trade image quality for convenience ever time.
It sure is hard to get a good image in this kind of light but you made the most of the situation.
I wish you had been lower and that the far wing was fully outstretched.
I like the sense of movement created by the bird. A dynamic frame.
