    Default Barred Owl In Snowfall.

This is a different individual than the one I posted previously, but photographed on the same day in a different location. Talk about an owl day! And two tame ones at that. Here I was getting as high as I could possibly get, on my tippy toes and neck extended, in order to get more of the reddish colours below, which are of distant dogwoods across ravine.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/320s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light handheld, small crop for comp, a couple of thin twigs peeking in removed at right edge.

Dan the Man, You are a master of envisioning/planning every detail to be allowed into the frame (at the time the trigger is pulled)... This canvas a case in point... Just sublime... TFS

Dan I think this is special! the image has a slight painterly feel to it, it evokes an awareness of the owl in this cold environment. I like it as presented but also with a little more space but I note you cropped for compositional reasons.

    Daniel:

The intense stare, snow on face coupled with out of focus snow flakes, soft background, all work well. Because of the stare and the shape of the bird, the central framing works well.

    Cheers

Ooh, to photograph an owl in snow, awesome Dan, how lucky.

I'm glad you kept the aperture at f/5.6 not to loose the falling snow. Don't feel the shooting angle is step and based on your description Dan, you must be very dainty on your tip toes, well done.

Lovey, ethereal, peaceful Dan. Falling snow, snow cap, and the beautiful colors in the falling snow BG... Well done.

As good as the headshot from the other day! The snowy surrounds are great, and you can thank whatever it was in the BG that lent those soft pink tones to an otherwise steely image. Can beat that eye contact and snowy face.

Daniel, fortunate indeed man. Owl shots rock, and this is a classy example.

Stare is mega, hints of magenta were a nice touch. Balance of perch to open area is spot on.

    Really well done sir!

Great job lining up the pink/red BG elements; they do add a whole lot to this frame.
    Echo all the positives above.

Two tame owls in the snow in one day -- to dream of. All good, and the reddish dogwood tones in the BG were well worth stretching for.

Hi Dan .... lovely shot .
Basically no nits from my side .... as a personal view I might like the eye area slightly lighter and less dense .
Love the falling snow , the crown and the stare !!!

    TFS Andreas
