Agree -- very nice. I would not mind a small crop from behind and above. Do you know that this bird is in first winter plumage?
Were you seated or lying flat?
with love, artie

I did not know that this is First Winter Plumage. Thanks for pointing that out.
This was taken crawling on the mud. This is a reservoir which has an inlet from River. I started walking with my D500 500 PF combo with TC in the pocket from my Campsite.
There were lots of American White Pelicans and Cormorants.
After a while, I heard the sound of yellow legs.
So I got down quickly and crawled to the edge of the Inlet. I saw three birds primarily to my right with not so good background. Took some shots and then moved left and waited patiently for 1 hr
A lot of times I just kept the lens and camera on the mud (which was relatively dry). One of the birds came toward me and did a couple of passes left to right which helped me to get this shot.

Good field craft rewarded you with a super shot, the low angle and unusual pose make for a memorable image.

Love it Krishna - more shorebird magic from you.
The bird looks fantastic and the neopolitan bkg is super sweet.
Excellent effort and payoff!
