This Egret seems to be resident by the lake at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre...lately one of my favourite spots for Ducks and Egrets. I watched this one for a while until it stayed in-between the wooden posts adjacent to the water. I thought it framed the bird nicely.
This is kind of neat the way the posts frame the egret. When I first saw it, I thought this was a Photoshop frame!
I love the BG by the feet. Has a painterley feel to it.
Would not mind a bit more room at the bottom for the virtual feet.
Whites look good,

Bird really cracks on the background. Amazing you could use the posts as you did. Not a huge fan of made man stuff, but it's required here. Detail/Exp look good across the bird. Wish the legs were a bit sharper.
Thanks all for the kind feedback...I usually get email notification of replies, but I don't seem to have got them this time...unsure why.
Now...I have to admit one thing: the original post on the right was a lot brighter and a different colour due to the sun direction which I didn't like. So...I duplicated the layer in Photoshop, flipped it vertical, used the move tool to move the layer so that the left post lined up with the original right post, then I applied a layer mask so that only the post is shown. I then did some work on the post so that it didn't match exactly the original post. I don't normally like to do this much work, but the mismatch between the posts got to me.
