The day lilies are finally starting to bloom in Illinois. This one is along the side of our house. A few more days and it should be quite a show.

Nice image, Sid. You got your point of focus right where it needs to be and you got a very pleasing DOF throughout. I think maybe one more stop down might have brought the entire flower into focus for you but this is really nice as is.

One suggestion would be to crop a small amount off the left side and add a little more canvas to the right to get it more in line with the ROT (rule of thirds.) It's a nice composition as is but those extra greens on the left are a tiny bit distracting so it might be worth trying. Just a thought...

    Can't wait to see more!

Hey Sid, as Julie points out, nice job on the details of the stamens, and also about the extra depth of field by stoping down to maybe 5.6, to add a little more sharpness on the petals. Pixels are free so try bracketing your f/stops, and than decide which one works best when you get it on the computer. You have a bulls-eyed comp here and to help that out you can shoot this as a vertical, add more stem and place the flower head in the top thirds of the frame.

    Hi Sid,
DOF mentioned already........you may want to try a crop top left and bottom....lets say 1/2 inch away from flower...........and that would take it off dead center. Light was handled very well.
