Another elegant tern image. I find it that tern images come out best when there are absolutely no shadows and the warm CA sun really helps

image mage with D500 anf 500 PF ISO-640 f/5.6 at 1/4000 sec hand held and processed with C1P. full-frame shot with zero crop. the feather weight lens makes it easy to frame the shot hand held. This is one of the sharpest tern file I have ever made!

Elegant indeed... Fantastic EXP and sweet details throughout. Love the BG and droplets as well. Love this canvas overall (so, what's new). TFS

Yes, this is one of the sharpest and most-detailed shots you've ever posted. Full frame is always good!

Where was this, HMB or on the bayside?

Sharp indeed! And amazingly well composed for a full-frame BIF. Nicely done. Yes, the near absence of shadows is a big plus.

Ari, congrats on a really great pose. The white and grays against the water are super.

Getting some halos around the beak on both monitors here.

    TFS!

Thanks it is natural since the beak is wet. Tern's dive in the water and when they exist they are wet and dripping until they shake themselves off as seen here

Find the details on the top of the near wing just amazing.... I'll post a similar tern shot soon - nowhere near the detail TBS but they sure can be elegant... cheers.

    Love the wing extension.
Have to agree with Brian that it looks like a sharpening halo around the bill. Is that in the RAW? I can't understand why water on the bill would give that line.
I am nitpicking here because this is a great frame,

Full frame to boot. Nice one. Love that blue water. Snazzy detail as well.

Thanks Gail. yes it is in RAW when you get the tern so close and with so much detail you start to see things you normally don’t see. Thin water film will reflect the light differently and give an impression of a halo. I have it in some other frames too

I agree this frame is beautifully sharp. Great colors and pose. The whites look great with lots of details.
