pretty cool to get all three in focus and with a good HA, soft light ain't bad either. It needs a bit more room in the bottom (to allow for virtual feet for the closest peli) . blacks look blocked with little detail from here

Hi Arash. Thank you for the feedback. Blacks look ok with some detail on my monitor. I'll check the raw file to see if I have more room below...if not it's quite easy to add in post. Cheers.

Hi Paul the blacks have tiny bit of detail but look mostly blocked for the left 2 birds on my screen at least .... if you dont have room in raw would be tough to fix it I agree

Thanks Arash. Yes, I thought about the contrast after posting it! Cheers.

Hi Paul, the repost is much better regarding the blacks. Good HA on all the birds. Thank you for sharing.

This is a nice frame. I like the pink hues of the image. Love the head angles.
The blacks in the repost look better but it looks like you lifted the blacks globally? I would select the blacks only and lift shadows.
I would also do a hint of CCW rotation on the repost.
I would also clone out the little bit of green in the BG that is just below the left bird's beak and intersects with middle birds neck. For some reason, it catches my eye.
Well done,
Gail

Hi Gail. Good points thank you. The original had a ccw rotation which took more off the bottom, and I was ok with that, but knew that I could have added some in post. I used luminosity masks to lift the blacks, but since posting did another edit with more contrast...looks good now...won't post it though. The clone suggestion is valid. Hope you're well and safe. Cheers.

The repost is indeed much better, and additional suggestions would take even higher, but I do know you have it in your files.

Such neat looking birds. Love that cartoon looking eye and face. Nice pose on all three birds.

Thanks Daniel and John. Yes Daniel...I do.

Paul, really like this frame. Wonderful composition.
With the contrast and blacks adjustments suggested as well as the rotate by Gail and small cloning I think you'd have an even better saver.
Maybe the colors in the heads are really that pastel, but perhaps a touch of saturation there may not hurt. Also a lot of pink/magenta on the bkg that I'm not sure is evident in the field. Whatever your eyes saw is best, of course.
TFS!

Hi Brian. Thanks so much. I like the contrast in my original post, and have since re-edited the raw file in response to the suggestions. The background colours are as I saw them. I was at a new location very early just before sunrise. There was quite a bit of fog...but as this lifted and the sun rose the colours were gorgeous. The Pelicans head colouring is also as I saw it, but I agree...it does have a pastel look. Cheers!
