Great shot Mike, you always seem to manage to achieve such clarity with these underwater images and this one is no exception. An amazing fish, I have to keep going back and having another look before I finish typing!

Very nice. Love the details. The colors and patterns on this are great. Why is this posted here? You usually post your underwater images in wildlife.

Thanks John, these usually camouflage themselves tight against the reef, so it was great to get one out in the open.
I did post this in the wildlife section but it was moved by the mods because it was taken with a macro lens. I don't agree with that decision as its not a macro shot, but am waiting on a response. End of the day its not my playground!
cheers
Mike

Beautiful capture Mike! The strobes really bring out the colors nicely. I have photographed them using an Ewa Marine bag with ambient light, which makes for a nice camouflage type image, but the strobes add the wow factor. Glad you did not get stung..would have been rather painful...I had a close call on Cayman Brac while photographing Caribbean Reef Squid. It was not until I was looking at my images on the computer that I realized how close I was to a stonefish with its dorsal fin standing up just in case I got too close. They are true masters at camouflage. Now that I have just completed my scuba diving certification I need to get a housing and strobes :)

Thanks Andrew for chiming in, appreciate it Bud, as I know how busy you are, but felt with your skill and in-depth knowledge in underwater photography, it would be helpful.I'll catch up with you later on today.
