John:
Classic nuthatch pose and comp, well done. Like the size of the perch for this bird.
Soft background, well exposed .
The face doesn't seem quite as sharp as the more posterior bits. You might be able to sharpen it a bit more.
Cheers

Lovely shot John, I agree with Randy close inspection reveals the head to be not quite so sharp as it could be, I think SS is too low, I would suggest a minimal 1/1000 sec for twitchy little birds (in fact I usually go for 1/1600 sec or faster).
I like the set up and the processing, I think perceptive sharpness of the head could be improved by lowering the luminosity and increasing the sharpness a little.

Nice comp, but shutter should be faster. I think f/5.6 would give you enough depth of field. Your tendency to shoot at narrow apertures (f/9 on the last one) is hurting you. Open up and gain speed and/or lose noise.

Wow the sharpness and detail is superb. You should be able to remove all traces of noise in the background with Neat Image. Beautiful frame!

Classic pose and well exposed.
You could clean up the noise in the BG a bit.
Depends on how far away you are, but you do need DOF with these little guys if you are close.
I think the DOF and SS look fine.
