This image is 12 frames after the previous image of the gang of four that I posted. The mergie with the fish made a sharp turn and lifted his wing up. He was successful in his getaway.

You are killing it with these mergies... Love the light, action (especially the included water trail), EXP, details, water reflections and eye contact (with both). Smallest of small nits, prey's shadow on forehead. TFS

Wonderful shot, Gail. Eye of the prey, paddling foot, wing up and great spray.

Another killer. Ditto David's sharp eye on the shadow. What temps are you working in? Are there Iceland Gulls by you?

It is anywhere between -5 to -15 Celsius but the problem is the wind which brings temp down even more. On this day , it was a balmy -10 Celsius.
And yes, we always have a few iceland gulls around. They are not common but not rare either.

Another fantastic action shot in the series, seems it was a very productive morning Gail! Its all there-sharpness, posture, spray, low angle etc. Agree with shadow on the forehead, tiny nit...

I like this one better than the multi .It is so clean, sharp, colourful and full of action and despite the shadow you got the catchlight which isn't easy on black face .Would you think of taking out the white droplets ,about 10 or so,.Love the fish despite the shadow.

Excellent Capture. Water Spash adds to the image.

Nice point of view as well.

A super shot Gail, low angle great action, I don't really understand reservations about the shadow, it seems me that the shadow is inevitable, that's what happens. I appreciate you will probably disagree but I think the red and possibly orange elements are a little saturated and the darkest plumage a little dense. Nevertheless a really fine shot.

    Hi Jonathan,
I don't disagree about the blacks. If the head is not perfectly aligned with the light it is hard to eke out the fine plumage detail. I did not touch the saturation or color balance on this photo so I think the reds and orange are true to color. Again, this was taken around 5:00PM on a winter day so the colors will be warmer. I always appreciate your comments!

Another winner Gail with loads of interest, action and great colors. POV, and the EXP are all top notch. The catchlight really adds definition to the head... Great effort sustaining the bitter cold.
