Interesting image, the contrast of the dry bison to the bleak landscape. Color palette works well, but it seems to be lacking detail.
Hi Gio - It's tough to pull these large herd shots off, especially when the bison don't cooperate. The rp is better. I might crop about half of the fg off if it were mine.
TFS,
Rachel
I like it looks like a painting to me. The whole scene is very nice. Love the snow.
Hello Gio,
Lovely sighting indeed and I see clearly what grabbed you at the scene. I too think a pano would work better in this instance. Image looks a bit soft overall, is this a big crop Gio?
Hard to comment on colour as I have never seen the species in real life. The bison look very red and extremely dark to me. Don't expect a great deal of detail at this distance but it seems you pushed things a little too far in terms of contrast - I would expect a bit more definition on the subjects, or shape, if you know what I mean?
It would really help if you described your workflow a bit, so we could give you better feedback Thank you for sharing, much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Gabriela Plesea
In this case being almost a landscape I used Luminar starting from raw.
reduced over and increased sharpness.
then in photoshop I checked any dominant (not found) arranged curves and removed noise with dfine2
increase detail with these steps:
duplicate level
CTRL I
vivid light
9px blur control
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E
hide first level created and apply to the one created last overlap (50%)
No more
Dear Gio,
Thank you so much for the above. Not sure there was any noise to be removed, IMO this step wasn't necessary.
I admit I do not know your software... But again, "Vivid Light" and "Blur Control" do not make sense to me.
Unfortunately I am going away but will be happy to look at the RAW file at the end of March, if that's ok with you?
Will be in touch when I get back, hope you have a great rest of the week Gio,
Kind regards,
Gabriela Plesea
Hi Gio -- I really like the concept, though not familiar with the colours of the subject but your RP is somewhat better than the OP. More of an artistic image .
TFS !
A nice bison-scape and I like the image design as is. Not sure if it is possible buy I would like to see the animals lighter and less dense with softer colors ...
with love, arite
